Why do I instruct?
I became a flight instructor primarily because I find it so personally rewarding. I firmly believe that flight instruction should be a fun, enjoyable activity for student and instructor alike.   While always maintaining safety as my top priority, I strive to create a relaxed, yet professional learning environment.

Experience
I have been incredibly lucky over the past 20+ years to be able to fly some truly great airplanes.

My primary flight training was in Beechcraft T-34's, and my multi-engine training was in Beechcraft C-90 King Airs.   After completing flight school, I spent four years flying Boeing 707's, the last year of which I was an Instructor (teaching Instruments, Air Refueling, Landings, etc...).

I then returned to the King Airs as a multi-engine flight instructor for about three years. I taught military pilots Multi-engine Instruments, Formation Flying, Over-water Navigation, etc....

Between 1999 and 2003 I flew Boeing 737's for a major U.S. airline.  When they went bankrupt, I was furloughed for about 3 years. In 2006, I rejoined the airline world and flew Airbus A320's for about 4 years. Fortunately, I am now able to devote myself to being a full time flight instructor.

My total flight time is about 10,000 hours.

The most enjoyable flying I've ever done, by far, has been in single engine airplanes.   There is nothing more gratifying than flying on a clear sunny day just for the fun of it. I've enjoyed countless weekend getaways that simply would not have been possible without the utility of a private airplane.

I am a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, and was lucky enough to own a Beech Sundowner for 5 years.

I have instructed students of all skill levels, and continue to learn something myself from each and every one of them.  As a professional pilot, I also consider myself a full time student; there is always something more to be learned....
